Taiwan implemented the national level 3 alert on May 19 ever since the outbreak of the virus, and it was extended for a second time to June 28. However, they were considering the possibility of a partial easing of the lockdown. The CECC head, Chen Shih-chung (陳時中) announced on June 23 that the level 3 alert will continue until July 12. Movie houses, libraries, and gyms will remain closed. Restaurants will be limited to takeout and deliveries only. He hopes everybody will work together to help stabilize the current pandemic situation.

The CECC continues to work together with the local government in strengthening the implementation of control measures to lessen the risk of community transmission and safeguard the health and safety of everybody:
- To accurately manage the confirmed cases and do immediate contact tracing to help stop the transmission of the virus.
- Those under home quarantine, with or without symptoms, are required to take a PCR test one day before the end of the quarantine period to help prevent the virus from entering the community.
- To speed up the vaccination of high-risk groups to lessen the infections or to lessen cases of serious complications and deaths.
- To promote and set up local community screening stations to speed up testing and monitoring. At the same time, to promote rapid testing in homes and businesses to increase the screening capacity. This will improve the monitoring processes for early detection of possible cases in the community to help stop the spread of infections.
- To strengthen critical medical care through the Covid-19 cases consultation platform and online consultation with experts who provide advice to help lower cases of death and to increase medical care capacity.
- Start the “People’s health and livelihood supply and demand project”, which specifically targets fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, seafood and other markets. Also included are supermarkets, stores, and night markets. The objective of the business authorities and the local government is health monitoring and implementation of control measures to prevent and lessen the risk of household transmission.
