The Social Affairs Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government assisted non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in old house renovation, setting up a community service point for new immigrants in Mituo District. It is believed that the new service point will provide better care for new immigrants residing in this place.

On the opening day, the parent-child dance group performed the traditional dance from Sumatra that symbolizes the joy of harvest season. The distinguished guests and new immigrant families also planted exotic herbs together, wrote blessing cards, painted Vietnamese conical hat, and participated in activities, making the community a field for multicultural education.

The Director-general of Social Affairs Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government, Xie Li Li (謝琍琍), stated that the new service point in Mituo District combines the elements of the fishing village, together with the old house renovation to create a Southeast Asian cultural space. Moreover, there is also a beautiful place - an exotic vanilla garden.

The Social Affairs Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government has established 2 service points in both Daliao District and Mituo District, providing new immigrants with leisure & learning activities that are suitable for parents and children. Besides, 84 care stations for new immigrants were also built to provide them with consultation and services.

In the future, a North Branch of Kaohsiung New Immigrant Hall will also be created in the Gangshan District of Kaohsiung. A network that cares about new immigrants’ aspects of life will thus be further promoted across the Bureau.
