The Ministry of Education (MOE) collaborates with public libraries to echo with the “International Mother Language Day” and raise awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity in Taiwan. Recently, the Gangshan Cultural Center Branch of Kaohsiung Public Library participated in promoting native language, and a French Taiwanese - Remy Gils (吉雷米) was invited to be the ambassador.

Remy Gils cosplayed a young man of the traditional Chinese opera and demonstrated his speaking skills in Hokkien dialects. It is hoped that through such kinds of activities, everyone would accept the unique cultures and start talking in their own mother tongue in daily life.

Besides, literature writer Zheng Shun Cong (鄭順聰) and the editor-in-chief of AVANGUARDTaiwan Publishing House Zheng Qing Hong (鄭清鴻) are invited to share the beauty of Taiwanese (Hokkien dialects) literature with readers at Kaohsiung Main Public Library on March 13.
In addition, there will also be another picture book fair at the International Picture Book Center of Kaohsiung Main Public Library. Readers of the young and old are welcome to understand the culture of Taiwan & the beauty of the mother language through the event.
