Human civilization has always developed near water, and different geographical environments give rise to unique water cultures. Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che pointed out that the Greater Tainan area boasts six reservoirs, over 8,000 ponds, and two internationally recognized wetlands&mdashZengwen Estuary and Sihcao Wetlands&mdashas well as Taiwan's only wetland-type national park, Taijiang National Park. Additionally, Taiwan&rsquos first reservoir (Hutoupi), the largest historical irrigation project (Chianan Canal), and the largest lagoon (Qigu Lagoon) are all located in Tainan, embodying SDG Goal 6: &ldquoClean Water and Sanitation,&rdquo and serving as key tourism resources.

Tainan&rsquos Tourism Director Lin Kuo-hua announced that the June issue of the &ldquoFish Head-kun Travels&rdquo e-newsletter features themes such as &ldquoTourist Reservoirs,&rdquo &ldquoPond Recreation,&rdquo and &ldquoSalt Field Wetlands,&rdquo recommending refreshing destinations and introducing the starting point and route of the mountain-sea-groove Greenway in Tainan. He also announced that the 2025 Qigu Seafood Festival will be held from July 5 to August 17. Alongside scenic recommendations, the newsletter also includes local hidden-gem food suggestions, inviting travelers to explore while collectively protecting precious water resources.Zhao'an Golden Shower Tree Avenue in Baihe (Image/Tainan City Government Website)Zhao'an Golden Shower Tree Avenue in Baihe (Image/Tainan City Government Website)

The Tourism Bureau also recommends that visitors to Zengwen Reservoir make reservations to visit the "Sustainable Utilization Hall" to gain deeper insight into the reservoir&rsquos role in water resource management in southern Taiwan. The hall, converted from a former staff cafeteria by the Southern Region Water Resources Office, serves as an educational site on weekdays and is open to the public on holidays, offering both educational and tourism functions. It also features a children&rsquos website (https://reurl.cc/1KEOE9) to help kids learn the importance of water resources.

Hutoupi Reservoir (Image/Tainan City Government Website)Hutoupi Reservoir (Image/Tainan City Government Website)

The &ldquoFishhead&rsquos Travel Guide&rdquo e-newsletter is published periodically each month on the &ldquoTainan Travel&rdquo official Facebook page. It is presented in a paperless format in line with energy-saving and carbon-reduction trends. Readers can download high-resolution versions of each issue from the Tainan Travel website (https://reurl.cc/zYda4e) to plan their trips more conveniently.
