New Residents in Yilan Celebrate the New Year, 8 Second-generation Children Are Lauded

"New Shining Stars- New Residents New Year Celebration" was held at 9:30 a.m. on December 28 at the square of Yilan Story Museum. According to the statistics by the Ministry of the Interior, the number of new residents in Yilan County has reached 8,778 by October in 2019.

With new residents integrating into Taiwan, it has also brought different cultural aspects to Taiwan. The Yilan City Office and the Yilan County Service Station of the National Immigrant Agency (NIA) of the Ministry of the Interior jointly organized activities with the Yilan County New Residents Development Association to make new residents happily celebrate the New Year coming.

Yilan County Service Center's Northen Administration Corps of the NIA selected 8 new residents who have outstanding academic performances to receive awards on stage. Chief Secretary Chen Maochun of the Ministry of the Interior of the Executive Yuan particularly attended this award ceremony from Taipei. Mayor of Yilan City Jiang Congyuan stated, "The Yilan City Office has spared no effort to show their care for new residents and hopes that there will be more exchange activities for them to work together with us for this multicultural society".
