Sun Moon Lake’s 4 piers completes preparations for chartered yachts, no individual passengers + no food and drink

After the Covid-19 nationwide alert was reduced to level 2, the four piers of Sun Moon Lake in Nantou County, have completed preparations and resumed operations of lake tours. However, only charter services are available. Individual guests are not accepted. Eating and drinking are still prohibited on the boat. Taiwan Yacht Industry Association (遊艇公會) stated that transportation service for individual passengers is not available. Since the number of guests in a chartered yacht is relatively fixed, epidemic prevention will be better.

Liao His-piao (廖錫標), deputy director of the Sun Moon Lake Scenic Management Office (日月潭風景管理處), said that in order to welcome tourists, the yacht operators in Sun Moon Lake are making sure of the condition of the boats that have not been used for a long time. The four major piers of Sun Moon Lake, Shui she (水社), Yi Ta Shao (伊達紹), Chao Wu (朝霧) and Hsuan Kuang Temple (玄光寺) are fully open, but individual passengers are not allowed to board the boats, only charter services are allowed. After the lowering of the Covid-19 alert to level 2, the Scenic Management Office will adjust based on the epidemic situation.

In addition, the Sun Moon Lake Yacht Association (日月潭遊艇公會) pointed out that due to the drought and the epidemic, 139 boats in Sun Moon Lake were forced to stop operating from middle of May. Now that the Covid-19 alert is finally lowered on July 27, the boat owners were busy preparing to welcome tourists. At present, the yacht operators have been re-registered and applied with the central government through the county government. They will try to vaccinate 228 employees as soon as possible, to provide vaccine protection before resuming yacht sightseeing operations in Sun Moon Lake.
