Temporary workers in India face heavy workloads, low wages, and lack of job security. They also face extreme discrimination, even in public, such as being prevented from taking a rest, such as not being able to sit on a bench in a shopping mall or park. Recently, the CEO of delivery service Zomato in India went undercover as a delivery man to investigate the issue, only to find that he himself was being denied access to the elevator in a shopping mall, with security guards telling him to take the stairs instead. The experience prompted the CEO to post a video of the incident, which went viral and sparked widespread criticism of the rampant discrimination in India.India is the most severely segregated and classed society in the world.

His posts sparked complaints from delivery workers and other temporary workers such as housekeepers, cooks and nannies, who said they had also faced similar humiliations and discrimination, particularly when asked to share public spaces, sitting and using elevators with other residents of luxury condos. Indian society still has sharp caste divisions, which creates divisions and leaves temporary workers in the country with significant inequality.
