People are becoming increasingly reliant on smart phones, making them vulnerable when their digital device's battery runs out. The EasyCard Corporation has partnered with ChargeSPOT to come up a battery charger rental service at MRT stations across the city to reduce strain on users looking for methods to recharge their phone in a rush.

Mayor Ko Wen-je emphasized the need of combining innovation and integration during a media conference on December 22, and he encouraged more young people to join the ranks of startups and entrepreneurs. He also stated that Taipei City will remain accessible to innovators looking to conduct proof of concept (PoC) trials.

During the meeting, the organizers announced that EasyWallet has been certified as an official payment channel for ChargeSPOT services. The private company took advantage of Taipei's living lab program and negotiated an agreement with the city hall to conduct proof-of-concept tests for their mobile phone recharging service at a small number of MRT stations.

Because of its early success, the project's scope has been expanded to encompass 117 MRT stations, making the service available to the 2 million daily metro riders.

Commuters will be able to borrow phone chargers at all MRT stations in the future, according to the mayor, thanks to a partnership between EasyCard Corporation and ChargeSPOT. This makes it more convenient for consumers because it allows them to recharge their phones without having to deposit cash. Individuals can pay with a single click using their EasyWallet instead of spending cash.
