To promote off-peak tourism in the Hualien-Taitung region and extend the summer travel season, the Tourism Bureau launched the "Taitung 2.0 Program" on October 15, 2024. The program offers subsidies for both independent and group travelers, aiming to encourage domestic tourists to revisit Hualien and Taitung, thereby revitalizing the local tourism industry. The program is divided into two main parts:
Independent Travel Accommodation Subsidy
Starting from October 15 to November 30, 2024, travelers visiting Taitung can enjoy an independent travel accommodation subsidy, available once a month and valid on both weekdays and weekends. To mitigate the impact of the 0403 Hualien earthquake on the hospitality industry, the Tourism Bureau has implemented independent travel accommodation subsidy measures since June 1. The program has undergone rolling adjustments, with the Hualien 2.0 Program starting on September 1 and the Taitung 2.0 Program starting on October 15. The subsidy period for Taitung has been extended until November 30 (or until funds are exhausted, with an announcement to stop accepting applications accordingly).Free travel accommodation subsidy measures for Hualien and Taitung tourism promotion (Photo credit: Free travel event website)
Group Travel Subsidy
The Tourism Bureau has launched an additional incentive program for group travel, effective from October 1 to December 20 (or until the funds are used up, at which point the Bureau may announce an early stop to applications). Travel agencies organizing trips of two days or more, with groups of 12 or more participants, and staying in Taitung can receive a subsidy of NT$20,000 per group. Each travel agency may apply for up to 20 groups.
Application Information
For more details, travelers and travel agencies can visit the Tourism Bureau's administrative information website or the Free Travel Activity website, or call the customer service hotline at 0800-211734 (available daily from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM). Domestic tourists are encouraged to participate enthusiastically, whether through independent or group travel, to bring new energy to tourism in Hualien and Taitung.
