A conference to discuss tourist marketing for Chinese and Muslim clients was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, under the direction of the Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government. In order to draw more Malaysian visitors to Taiwan, the Department of Information and Tourism has also partnered with the industries to launch an initiative from September 1 through December 31 this year that offers discounts on shopping, dining, wedding photography, pastry making, and other services.

Malaysia is now Taiwan's fifth-largest source market for tourists, according to the Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government. In the first half of this year, more than 200,000 Malaysians visited Taiwan. The majority of Malaysians are Muslims. In order to cater to Muslim tourists, Taipei 101, the National Palace Museum, and other well-known sites in Taipei have been promoted by the Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government. Emerging attractions including the Taipei Music Center, Taipei Performing Arts Center, and Rongjin Gorgeous Time Park have been introduced for Ethnic Chinese visitors with a high rate of revisits.

Some of the businesspeople who traveled with the Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government to Malaysia noted that Taiwan is the greatest location in the world for wedding photography. Another pineapple cake manufacturer stated that pineapple cake is a typical Taiwanese souvenir and that it is unquestionably the greatest souvenir to encourage travelers from Southeast Asian nations to visit Taiwan.
