The Korean Air flight from Seoul Incheon to Taichung, using a new A321neo aircraft, will begin daily scheduled flights on October 27. The flight offers wider personal screens and luggage space, aiming to improve the passenger experience for Taichung travelers. To attract more Korean tourists, the Taichung City Government and Korean Air are partnering to promote boarding pass discounts. From now until March 31 next year, passengers can use their boarding passes from the past week to enjoy exclusive discounts at numerous participating stores in Taichung.

The Director of the Taichung City Tourism Bureau, Chen Meihsiu, noted that Korea has always been an important tourism market for Taichung. According to the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Korean tourists visiting Taiwan totaled 620,000 from January to August 2024, ranking third among foreign visitors. In January of this year, the Korean TV program "My Solo Life" filmed in Taichung, attracting numerous Korean tourists. To sustain this enthusiasm, the Taichung Tourism Bureau organized a promotional event in Korea in April and conducted marketing in Korean in-flight magazines, receiving enthusiastic responses from Korean tourists. Director Chen expressed hope that Korean Air's vast membership base and promotional resources will attract more international tourists to transit through Seoul Incheon and to Taichung, making it more convenient for Taiwanese citizens to travel to Korea and other regions.

The Taichung City Tourism Bureau further details the boarding pass discount activities, covering accommodation, dining, and shopping. Participating merchants include: Chung Hsin Golden Tulip Hotel (a welcome treat for each room), Alice International Hotel (discount on bookings), Dongshi Forest (discounted tickets and accommodation), National Museum of Natural Science (discounted tickets), Fu Ding Wang Pork Knuckle (pork knuckle with free braised rice), and Sheng Heng Chang Taichung Airport Duty-Free Shop (a gift for spending). Other discounts include Hong Ding Confectionery (free cookies for sharing), MITSUI OUTLET PARK Taichung Port (discount coupons), Sun Cake Museum (90% discount), and TC Timewalk (gifts for pre-booked itineraries).
Furthermore, foreign tourists with Korean Air boarding passes can enjoy special discounts, including 42% off at Furama Hotel and the racing theme hotel in Lihpao Leisure Park, discounts at Lihpao OUTLET MALL, buy-one-get-one deals for Lihpao Park and Sky Dream Ferris Wheel, and discounts on airport transfers provided by Huafu Travel Agency. Foreign visitors can exchange for beautiful Taichung City MRT commemorative items at the Taichung City Tourism Bureau service center at Taichung International Airport with their boarding passes.
