Taiwan won 2 gold and 3 silver medals, ranking 5th in the International Physics Olympiad

In this year's International Physics Olympiad, Taiwan won a total of 2 gold and 3 silver medals, getting the 5th position in the international rankings.

The Ministry of Education recently issued a press release stating that Taiwan has participated in the 50th International Physics Olympiad this year in Tel Aviv, Israel. 360 students from 78 participated in the competition. The five students who represented for Taiwan won a total of 2 gold and 3 silver medals, getting the 5th position in the international rankings.

The Ministry of Education pointed out that the Taiwan team was organized for the Professor Gao Xianzhong from the Department of Physics of the National Taiwan Normal University., and more than 10 professors were responsible for the coaching. After selection in four phases, 5 representatives were selected among 2315 students.

According to the Ministry of Education, Professor Cai Shangfang of the Wufeng University of Science and Technology was the head of the delegation, and worked in cooperation with the Professors Qi Zhongyu and Chen Zhengzhong from the Physics Department of the National Tsinghua University, the Professors Zhu Zhongxia and  Zhuang Zhenyi from the Department of Electrophysics of the National Chiao Tung University and the Teacher Chen Tingzi from the National Experimental High School at Hsinchu Science Park helping the participant with the translation of the questions and the results of the competition. The delegation set off to go to Israel on the 6th July to participate in the competition. The closing ceremony and the awards were hold on the 14th and the awards.
