The 2024 Taiwan Creative Expo, a leading international exhibition for the cultural and creative industries in Asia, will be held from August 23 to September 1 at the Tainan Cultural and Creative Park, 321 Art Village, and the Greater Tainan Convention and Exhibition Center. This year, the Expo has moved to Tainan for the first time, and the Ministry of Culture revealed the curatorial theme "Faces of Formosa pó-tó pah-bīn" at today's media conference, showcasing the largest brand exhibition area in the event's history.
Since 2017, the Creative Expo has gradually developed a model that responds to contemporary cultural trends with thematic curatorial exhibitions, and a curatorial-style commercial exhibition platform for industry licensing transactions. Deputy Minister of Culture Wang Shi-si pointed out that Tainan, as the starting point of Taiwan's connection to the world, symbolizes Taiwan's diverse and inclusive social culture with this year's theme "Faces of Formosa," which also carries the meaning of "appropriate" in Taiwanese.

This year's Expo will integrate cultural curation and brand exhibitions at the Greater Tainan Convention and Exhibition Center, featuring a record 570 participating brands and nearly 700 booths. IP licensing brands account for 60% of the exhibitors, and the event will also feature a family-friendly pavilion, an outdoor 3D naked-eye installation, and city tours at the Tainan Cultural and Creative Park. Exhibition themes such as "Voice of Freedom: Democratic Cells," "Generational Inheritance: Conflict and Innovation," "Rooting Locally: Community Seeds," and "Unity is the Only Way" will lead visitors to explore the cultural heritage of Tainan.
Tainan City Government Cultural Bureau Director Xie Shiyuan stated that the Tainan City Government's exhibition area will be themed "Lesson: D," with three core areas: "Main Campus," "Comics Campus," and "Cultural and Creative Campus," transforming Tainan into a boundless large-scale school. Special nighttime openings of attractions like Anping Fort and Chihkan Tower will allow everyone to rediscover "How to Use Tainan at Night."

Chief Curator Luo Jianyu mentioned that "Faces of Formosa" will present Taiwan's diverse cultural historical connections through field research and creative performances. During the Expo, 10 exclusive guided tours will be available for an immersive experience, with tickets on sale starting August 8 on the KKDAY platform, limited quantities available, so purchase quickly.
The main venue of the Expo is designed by Hu Jingyuan, Chief Space Director of Gong Er Architecture, with the outdoor area featuring a large 3D naked-eye screen created by Feng Jianzhang, showcasing the intersection of technology and art. The Greater Tainan Convention and Exhibition Center's commercial exhibition area, overseen by Director Huang Yuzhen, includes four major areas: "Cultural and Creative Brand Exhibition Area," "Tainan Home Base," "New Talent Exhibition Area," and "IP Licensing Exhibition Area," with over 220 brands participating, highlighting Tainan's cultural creativity.
Taiwan's rich image creation has attracted hundreds of buyers from Japan, Korea, Thailand, and other countries. The venue's design utilizes discarded steel to demonstrate diversified architectural aesthetics, emphasizing the close integration of cultural curation and brand exhibitions.
