According to Bacolod's MassKara dancers enliven PH Independence Day in New York | Inquirer News, on Sunday, June 4, during the 125th Philippine Independence Day Parade in New York City, tens of thousands of New Yorkers and Filipinos applauded as dancers from the MassKara Festival from this city danced their way down Madison Avenue.

The Barangay Granada MassKara dancers gave an outstanding performance. According to Bacolod Councilor Jason Villarosa, it was a proud occasion for Bacolodnons and Filipinos in general.

As the largest Philippine Independence Day Parade outside of the Philippines, the New York celebration was given the title.

The honorary grand marshal of the Philippine Independence Day Council Inc., Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, extended an invitation to all in attendance to visit Bacolod City, particularly during the MassKara Festival in October.

Because of their fortitude, joy, and politeness, Bacolodnons are known as the "City of Smiles," Bacolod Mayo added.

At the occasion, Benitez also had meetings with the leaders of the US Senate Majority Floor and the mayor of New York City, Eric Adams.
