NIA assists foreigners with issues regarding ARC New UI. Number

The number format of the foreigner Alien Resident Card (ARC) was renewed earlier this year with UI No. (1 English letter + 9 digits).  Many foreigners reported that they cannot log into their bank accounts with the new UI No. format. The funds in the former account returned to zero balance, and it was only possible to process by visiting the bank in person. Because of the same issue, many foreigners were unable to register for vaccines.

The National Immigration Agency (NIA) immediately responded to these issues and came up with solutions to provide convenience to foreigners living in Taiwan.

Bank account details must be renewed by processing them at the counter. The NIA coordinated with the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), Executive Yuan in creating solutions to this problem. More than 20 major banks in Taiwan have provided non-counter processing for account changes including written and electronic methods.

Unable to make vaccination appointments using new UI. Number:

ARC holders must provide both old and new UI. Numbers on the "COVID-19 Vaccination Registration and Reservation" platform and verify their identity.

The "National Health Insurance APP (健保快易通APP)" and "EZ WAY APP (易利委EZ WAY APP)" are now updated to accept the new UI. Number for ARC holders. For more information, please visit the official website of the NIA.
