[Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network] On February 6, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Turkey. The disaster was catastrophic, and there were more than 20,000 fatalities. As soon as the disaster happened, Taiwan also dispatched a search and rescue team to help. The Ministry of Health and Welfare updated statistics and revealed that as of the evening of February 9, donations had surpassed NT$ 271.77 million The Executive Yuan had announced the donation account on the evening of February 7.

The Buddhist Tzu Chi Charity Foundation was entrusted by the Turkish Representative Office in Taiwan to gather relief materials for the earthquake tragedy in addition to humanitarian donations, and the influx exceeded expectations in just two days. The Turkish representative office in Taiwan also issued an emergency announcement on Facebook on February 11, and the fundraising activity ended early. Muhammed Berdibek, Turkey's representative to Taiwan, said that he was so touched that he almost cried when he saw the donations from Taiwanese.

A Turkish new immigrant youtuber (圖佳) in Taiwan, claimed that many his friends and family lived where the earthquake hit, currently, 6 of them are missing, 4 of them are dead. He eagerly participated in any work that could aid his country in addition to using his savings for disaster relief in his hometown. He thanks Taiwanese for generous donations of cash and supplies.

A well-known artist Rifat, who has obtained a Taiwan ID card visited the warehouse in Neihu, Taipei City to give clothing and supplies. Rifat expressed his gratitude and promised to send this photo to the Turkish media to show them how compassionate Taiwanese people are.

Muhammed Berdibek, Turkey's representative to Taiwan, said that it will take a long time for Turkey to rebuild from the severe earthquake disaster, and perhaps in the future it will need assistance from other parties in Taiwan; he was surprised to see so many donations from Taiwanese, "Taiwanese are really kind and generous, and we are very grateful." He said.
