CECC confirms 56 more COVID-19 cases, including 2 domestic cases and 54 imported cases

According to Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), there are 56 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of those 56 cases, 2 are domestic and 54 are imported. The CECC announced no death today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are 1 man and 1 woman, aged between under 10 years old and around 60 years old.

Regarding the 54 new imported cases, they are 32 men and 22 women, aged between under 5 to around 80 years old. 7 of them are from the United States, 4 are from the Philippines, 2 from Singapore and Japan each, and 1 from Switzerland, Korea, Australia, Turkey, Brazil, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, and Canada each. The remaining 26 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between December 23, 2021, to February 22, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 6,216,454 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 6,196,027. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 20,156 cases. Of the 20,156 confirmed cases, 4,708 are imported; 15,394 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection.

The command center once again appeals to the public that one should keep hands clean, wear a mask, reduce unnecessary travel, activities, or gatherings, avoid entering and leaving crowded places, or areas with high risk of infection transmission, and take the initiative to follow various regulations and stop the potential spread of the highly contagious variant within the community
