CECC confirms 48 more COVID-19 cases, including 15 domestic cases and 33 imported cases

According to Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), there are 48 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of those 48 cases, 15 are domestic and 33 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are 5 men and 10 women, aged between under 10 and above 70 years old.

Regarding the 48 new imported cases, they are 19 men and 14 women, aged between 20 and around 70 years old. 9 of them United States, 2 from United Arab Emirates and Singapore each, and 1 from Japan, China, Australia, Vietnam, Mexico and the Netherlands each. The remaining 14 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between January 9, 2022, to January 28, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,640,594 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,621,502. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 18,681 cases. Of the 18,681 confirmed cases, 3,593 are imported; 15,034 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection.

The command center once again appeals to the public that one should keep hands clean, wear a mask, reduce unnecessary travel, activities, or gatherings, avoid entering and leaving crowded places, or areas with high risk of infection transmission, and take the initiative to follow various regulations and stop the potential spread of the highly contagious variant within the community
