Leafy vegetables are loved for their rich nutritional value but are often prone to turning yellow or wilting in the fridge. Taipei Agriculture shares three practical tips to help you easily extend the freshness of your vegetables:
- Dry the moisture
Use napkins or kitchen paper towels to dry the surface of the vegetables. Moisture accelerates wilting, so keeping the vegetables dry is a key step. - Wrap and ventilate
Wrap the vegetables with white paper or kraft paper, starting from the roots. Then place the wrapped vegetables in a plastic bag, leaving a small gap for ventilation and trying to remove as much air as possible. - Store upright
Place the wrapped vegetables upright in the fridge, with the roots facing down. This helps prevent crushing or suffocation, keeping the vegetables fresh for longer.
Follow these simple steps, and your vegetables will stay fresh for a longer time, ready to enjoy for healthy and delicious meals.
