Immigration Bureau Taipei service station holds a training of volunteer translation recently with Taipei’s department of motor vehicles to disseminate new law for electric scooter. From November, all electric scooter needs to apply for license plate.

Since there are many new immigrants using electric scooter, Immigration Bureau holds disseminate activity reminding New Immigrants to apply for license plate so they will not violate the new law.

Mr. Liao, Bo-Shuan,  Chief Management Section of Department of Motor Vehicles of Taipei City states, according to Act Governing the Punishment of Violation of Road Traffic Regulations modified and announced by May 4th. Electric bicycle is known as micro-electric scooter under the law, you need to prepare personal ID card, and documents of new scooter and apply for license plate at Department of Motor Vehicle along with scooter inspection. You are only allowed to ride on road after getting the license plate.

Current electric scooter also needs to do inspection and apply for license plate within two years after the regulation is established. Electric scooter also needs to follow traffic laws, wear qualified helmet while riding, and modification of scooter body is not allowed after licensed.

Taiwan has convenient traffic routes and there are many kinds of transportation tools says New Immigrant Lan Lan. Electric scooter is top choice for new immigrants due to its light weight and doesn’t need driving license to ride. People can be more secure after applying license too.

All new immigrants are welcomed to ask for hep at nearby service station for all living obstacles in Taiwan. Immigration Bureau keep up with current affairs by letting volunteers disseminate related regulation during their services so that New immigrants can integrate into life in Taiwan easier.
