Since the Qing Dynasty, due to the influence of the northeast monsoon, plants in Kinmen struggled to grow, leading villagers to erect Wind Lion Gods at temple grounds or village entrances to ward off evil winds. Over time, the Wind Lion God evolved into Kinmen's guardian deity. Later, villagers would pray to the Wind Lion God for help with various issues, offering candies and biscuits as tributes, and praying for peace and smooth living.Under the teacher's clear and simple explanation, new immigrant families gained a deeper understanding of the Wind Lion God. The teacher also demonstrated how to mix colors and use paintbrushes on-site. (Photo / Provided by Kinmen County Veterans Service Office)
