In recent years, fraudsters have improved their techniques significantly, and they now regularly employ communication apps or online social networks as conduits. Taiwanese users of the messaging app LINE have just made the most frequent techniques employed by scammers public knowledge.

According to LINE, there are many fraudsters who will first steal other people's accounts, then pose as family members and friends and begin lying to friends about a problem with their LINE. These individuals hope to trick users into providing information like phone numbers, authentication codes, and passwords in order to steal LINE accounts; once the user provides the above information, the account may have already been stolen. The "phone number," "password," and "SMS authentication code" provided by the LINE account are not to be shared with anybody, even if they are someone you know well, LINE urges.

Please contact LINE customer service as soon as you can if, regrettably, your account is compromised by a scammer gang. Two actions will be conducted if customer service confirms that the account has been stolen. Start by suspending the hacked account. The customer service will next help in moving purchased items (stickers, emoticons, themes, LINE POINTS, and LINE Credit) to the new account after directing the user to register a new account and asking them to write once again. The customer service will also help and direct you to the appropriate contact window if the user has inquiries regarding LINE Pay binding or iPASS MONEY.
