Cultural Communication of Indigenous People and New Residents, Saʹopoan Coming on Stage on 8th December

Taiwan’s cultural characteristics, the National Immigration Agency, for the first time, moves to Tainan City to hold a grand activity cooperating with Tainan City Government for Migrants Day, “Taiwan, Diversity Calls It Home” and invites a dance group called “Saʹopoan” to do an amazing live performance at the Chimei Museum.

“Saʹopoan”, whose members are all Amis, is a local indigenous dance group in Tainan and was established in 2013. In recent years, it has recruited dancing and music professionals to promote the culture of indigenous people. The spirit of Saʹopoan’s establishment is “Culture is life”, and Saʹopoan uses tribal elements, use contemporary innovative thinking, to “dance out” the art of the indigenous people and to spread the cultural meaning. Also, it uses indigenous music to promote the styles of sports leisure and dance combining with related arts, dramas, and folklores for all ethnic groups to drive the cultural and creative field.

The NIA states that the activity, “Taiwan, Diversity Calls It Home”, celebrates for Migrants Day, invites an indigenous dance group to present the integration of Indigenous people, the new residents, and all of the Taiwanese groups, and hopes that adults will all participate in this activity with their children on 8th December at Chimei Museum.
