Q: If I get a new passport number while applying for the Employment Gold Card, how can I update it?
A: You must request the ministry currently reviewing your application to return the case to you so you can make corrections directly on the platform.
For example:
- If your application is under review by the Workforce Development Agency (WDA), request WDA to return the case for correction.
- If your case is at the Bureau of Consular Affairs (BOCA) or a Taiwanese overseas mission for passport verification, request them to return the case to you for corrections.
Please note that at the stage of in-person passport verification at overseas missions, the passport verification notification form cannot be updated with the new passport number.
To update your passport information, please enter the new passport number and select its validity period using the calendar tool as shown in the diagram below.
Q: Will the application process differ if I apply from overseas?
A: You must choose to collect the Gold Card within Taiwan. Print the “Employment Gold Card Approval Certificate”, and use this certificate along with your passport for entry into Taiwan. Within 30 days of the next day after entry, bring this certificate and your original passport to the designated Immigration Agency Service Center to collect your Gold Card.
Q: How can I check the progress of my Employment Gold Card application?
A: After completing the online application and obtaining a submission number, you can visit the “Foreign Professionals Application Platform”, select the “Application Progress Inquiry” section, and enter the submission number. The system will display the current review status of your case.
Q: Can I withdraw my application and request a refund?
A: Once your application has been submitted, you cannot receive a refund even if you withdraw your application.

Q: What should I do if my Employment Gold Card application is rejected?
A: If your Employment Gold Card application is rejected, you may appeal within 30 days from the day following the receipt of the rejection notice. Prepare an appeal in Chinese and send it by registered mail to the Immigration Service Station that reviewed your case. The Immigration Agency will then forward the appeal to the Ministry of the Interior.
If you have questions about filing an appeal, you can consult the Immigration Service Station or email the Director-General’s Mailbox.
Please note: If your application is rejected, you cannot resubmit or continue the current process. However, you can reapply for the Employment Gold Card on the Foreign Professionals Application Platform. Refer to the resubmission steps in the diagram below. How to reapply for the Employment Gold Card (Image/Source: Taiwan Employment Gold Card Office website)
Q: Do Employment Gold Card holders need to cancel their Gold Card upon obtaining or restoring Taiwanese nationality?
A: If an Employment Gold Card holder obtains or restores Taiwanese nationality, or if they have dual nationality and enter, exit, or reside in Taiwan under the status of a Taiwanese national (as per Article 32 of the Immigration Act), the Ministry of the Interior will revoke or terminate the Employment Gold Card in accordance with Article 7, Clause 3 of the Regulations Governing the Application of Employment Gold Cards by Foreign Special Professionals.
