Enhancing the Cohesion: National Immigration Agency Invites the New Residents’ family to Make Vietnamese Jelly

To bring the members of the new resident closer and strengthen the cohesion of families, Hsinchu City’s service station of the National Immigration Agency held “Enhancing the Cohesion and Love” to invite the new resident to make Vietnamese jelly flowers together at the Foreign Spouse Caring Association of Hsinchu City. The content of the activity includes “family activities design” and “happy family activity” for the participators to enjoy the happiness of making Vietnamese jelly and understand how to create their own happy families. After the activity, all of the adults and children said, “this is so beautiful and amazing!” and took their handmade jelly home.

This family education course invited Li Guanglian, a lecturer from Vietnam. She was dexterous, had a delicate mind, and devoted herself to promoting the Vietnamese culture. Also, she believed that promoting her home country needed to start from her own family, so she usually made creative Vietnamese specialties together with her three children to let them understand the motherland style and create an exclusive parent-child sweet date. Through the process of making “jelly flowers”, Guanglian shared some small steps of cohesion and happiness with the new resident and expressed her hope that everyone would integrate with love like jelly flowers. Wu Baomei, who was from China, said that because of being busy at work, she was unable to always be by her children’s side even if she valued her children’s education and wanted to do more. Through this activity, she understood that if she did care about her family and contributed her time and love to her family, each other would be happier than before.

Lan Shaoyu, the director of Hsinchu City’s service station, indicated that it is technological advancement that makes modern families lose their real functions, so family management and enhancing parent-child interaction has become more and more important. National Immigration Agency has devoted to promoting various immigration counselling measures in recent years and has valued the training system for the new residents’ second generation. The Hsinchu City’s service station conducts at least one “Family Education and Acts Propaganda Course” for the new resident every month and invites the new resident and their family members to participate together. It is hoped that all families will benefit and create their own happy families in Taiwan.
