The Asian World Film Festival took place in Culver City, Los Angeles, USA, not too long ago. At this film festival, the Taiwanese film "Marry My Dead Body" took home the Audience Award. This is the first time a Taiwanese film has taken home the prize in the festival's nine years of existence.

This year, films from fifteen countries—including Taiwan, South Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Nepal, Indonesia, and Iran—are competing for the Audience Award. Next year, they will be in the running for the Academy Awards' Best International Film Award. Finally, "Marry My Dead Body" was the most memorable and received the Audience Award.
In an interview, producer Jin Bai-lun stated that while Taiwanese films previously portrayed the more realistic and oppressive aspects of the LGBTQ community, "Marry My Dead Body" aims to portray the laid-back, upbeat, and positive aspects of the LGBTQ following the legalization of same-sex marriage.

The movie's director, Cheng Wei-hao, claimed that while stereotypes are purposefully used in the story to generate comedic situations, viewers would discover that the true message of the movie is to shatter preconceptions and remove labels by following the characters on their journey. We are all the same when it comes to love, regardless of our gender or sexual orientation.
