The Yingge Ceramics Museum in New Taipei City is once again promoting a participatory budgeting project, inviting citizens to brainstorm and submit innovative proposals for the "2024 Life's Flavors—Yingge Ceramic Industry Culture and Pottery Promotion" initiative. This call for submissions encourages creativity, with the top two proposals receiving NT$30,000 and NT$20,000, respectively, along with NT$100,000 in implementation funding to bring the ideas to life, reflecting the rich lifestyle connected to the Dahan River basin.
Museum Director Zhang Qiwen noted that since 2015, the participatory budgeting project has provided a platform for citizens to engage with local affairs. Five proposals have been successfully implemented, including the "Striking a Pose: Yingge Pottery" initiative by Masterpiece Ceramics Co., Ltd. in 2019, which featured a creative ceramics fashion competition, and the "Take a Walk with the Ceramics Museum" initiative by Baoxiang Ceramics Art Workshop in 2021, which showcased Yingge pottery at the Far Eastern SOGO Taipei Fuxing Store, all of which received positive feedback."The 2024 Life's Flavors - Yingge Ceramic Industry Culture and Yingge Pottery Promotion Participatory Budgeting" encourages innovative proposals, focusing on the elements of the Dahan River that nourish Yingge and enhance the overall ambiance of daily life. This year's theme, "2024 Life's Flavors—Yingge Ceramic Industry Culture and Pottery Promotion," focuses on the nurturing elements of the Dahan River and enhancing the living ambiance in Yingge. The format of proposals is not restricted, allowing for participation in forms such as performances, cultural activities, or audiovisual presentations. Proposers must be at least 18 years old, residents of New Taipei City's Yingge District, individuals interested in Yingge culture, Yingge-based businesses, or legally registered community organizations are all welcome to participate.
The museum is now accepting participatory budgeting submissions until August 30, 2024. An in-person proposal briefing is scheduled for mid-September, followed by online voting from September 19 to October 4. The top two proposals will collaborate with the museum to plan and implement their ideas, with execution starting next year.
