Taoyuan gov't inspection to ensure disease control measures carried out among VIPT

Taoyuan City Mayor, Cheng Wen-tsan (鄭文燦), visited TRA Taoyuan Station and surrounding stores to check if disease control measures were carried out on May 3. Mayor Cheng stated that more than 110 thousand migrant workers engaged in social welfare and other industries. To establish correct concepts of epidemic prevention, the Department of Labor has formed an inspection team since April 19 and visited the places where migrant workers often gather on weekends to publicize epidemic prevention policies, including stations, traditional markets, shopping areas, and parks.

Mayor Cheng expressed his expectation that migrant workers from Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand (VIPT) will adapt to life in Taiwan. Director of Taoyuan Department of Labor, Chen Jinghang (陳靜航) stated that to avoid imported cases, employers have had to work with the Labor Department to undertake inspections at quarantine places since March 27. The city government has also provided places for migrant workers to conduct home quarantine. Employers can contact the Foreign Labor Affairs Division of the Labor Department (tel: 03-3328233) for follow-up arrangements if necessary.
