The Rerum Novarum Center organized a donation campaign and invited the public to take part in order to supply warm clothes and comforters to international fisherman working in Taiwan during the chilly winter months. Materials can be collected between now through December 5. It is scheduled to distribute cold-resistant materials to international fishermen on December 7 and 8 at fishing ports in the Keelung and New Taipei districts.

Rerum Novarum Center pointed out that most of the foreign fisherman working in Taiwan originate from tropical countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines, and Taiwan’s winter is quite difficult for them. Moreover, after getting their salaries, most fisherman practically transmit the money back to their home countries for their family, leaving them with no spare money to buy warm gear.

Quilts, jackets, caps, socks, warm shirts and pants, gloves, and other items are needed for the supply collection. New men's clothing in sizes L and XL is the major focus. With material contributions beginning every year, from 2017 to 2022, a total of 7,814 persons have been supplied cold-warming items. The materials were received by foreign fishermen, who conveyed their profound appreciation for the kindness of the Taiwanese people.
