[Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network] On February 23, 2023, The Penghu County Service Center launched the mobile service train with specialized corps and went to the Waian Fishing Port of Penghu County to publicize “Expanded Overstayers Voluntary Departure Program”, and brought the latest laws and regulations to foreign fishermen who had difficulty receiving information. From February 1, 2023, to June 30, 2023, National Immigration Agency promotes the “Expanded Overstayers Voluntary Departure Program” to encourage immigrants who have overstayed in Taiwan to self-report with “no detention, exempted from entry ban, and minimum fine of NT$2,000.”

The Penghu Inspection Station of Taichung Branch of Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan and the Penghu Station of the Kaohsiung Motor Vehicles Office Directorate General of Highways, MOTC were invited to promote miniature electric two-wheelers and preventative measures against African swine fever and information about the kinds of supplied plant and animal items that are not allowed to ship or being to Taiwan on the same day.

The Penghu County Service Center and the Specialized corps jointly announced that the Legislative Yuan has been submitted the proposed amendment of some articles of the Immigration Act for review. It will now be possible to enter Taiwan for no more than ten years. For overstay fines, it will be increased to NT$30,000 to NT$150,000, and the period of entry ban to Taiwan will be increase to a maximum of 10 years.

National Immigration Agency is making an appeal to overstayers to seize the chance of self-report before the program ends. In addition, National Immigration Agency has also set up a special free consultation hotline 0800-024-881 (ByeBye), which provides multilingual services. Migrant workers and foreigners who have overstayed are welcome to use this hotline for consultation.
