According to CECC, CECC confirms 1 more imported case; Taiwanese man found to have COVID-19 after returning from the Philippines
On March 29, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced one new confirmed imported case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The new case, Case #1024, is a Taiwanese man in his 30s. The Taiwanese man traveled to the Philippines for work in mid-December 2020, and he returned to Taiwan on March 12, 2021. He didn't show any symptoms upon arrival.
The CECC pointed out that the Taiwanese man experienced an abnormal sense of smell and taste on March 25. The health authority then arranged for him to seek medical attention and undergo COVID-19 testing on March 26. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on March 29 (the CT value was 26.6, and he tested positive for both IgM and IgG antibodies).

The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 187,777 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 186,229. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 1023 cases. Of the 1023 confirmed cases, 907 are imported; 77 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; and 1 case (Case #530) has been removed (Case #530 is not assigned to any patients). Of the confirmed cases, there have been 10 deaths, and 979 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 34 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
