The “2026 Hualien Fuli Liushishan Daylily Marathon Challenge” will take place on September 13, combining golden daylily fields, mountain routes, and the scenic East Rift Valley landscape. The second edition of the race invites runners from across Taiwan to experience Fuli's autumn scenery among rolling hills covered in yellow blossoms.
Liushishan is one of Hualien's best-known daylily viewing destinations. During blooming season, hillsides are covered in golden flowers alongside panoramic valley and mountain views, creating one of eastern Taiwan's most recognizable seasonal landscapes. Fuli Township Office hopes the marathon will allow more visitors to discover the area while experiencing its natural scenery and local hospitality.
The first edition attracted more than 2,100 runners, many of whom visited Fuli for the first time. Participants said the Liushishan route was both challenging and scenic, while support stations and encouragement from local residents created a warm race atmosphere.
This year's event includes the 24K “Golden Needle Warrior” mountain challenge, the 10K “Brave Pioneer” hill route, and the 5K “Happy Guide” leisure category near the mountain base. Both experienced runners and family travelers can find a suitable race category. Registered participants will receive Fuli rice as a welcome gift and a daylily-themed finisher souvenir.
To accommodate visitors from outside the region, organizers will provide free shuttle services from Yuli and Fuli railway stations, along with paid shuttle buses between Hualien Station and Liushishan. The event is also partnering with Far Glory Ocean Park to offer special discounts for runners and accompanying family members.
