CECC confirms 83 more COVID-19 cases, including 37 domestic cases and 46 imported cases

According to Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), there are 83 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of those 83 cases, 37 are domestic and 46 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are 3 men and 22 women, aged between below 10 years old and around 50 years old. The remaining 12 cases arrived are being investigated.

Regarding the 46 new imported cases, they are 23 men and 23 women, aged between under 5 and above 70 years old. 6 are from United States and India each, 5 from The Philippines, 2 from Brazil, 1 from Cambodia, Vietnam, Switzerland, France, United Arab Emirates, China, Indonesia, Sweden, Singapore, Malaysia, and Spain each. The remaining 16 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between January 25, 2022, to February 10, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,889,595 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,869,720. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 19,376 cases. Of the 19,376 confirmed cases, 4,047 are imported; 15,275 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection.

The command center once again appeals to the public that one should keep hands clean, wear a mask, reduce unnecessary travel, activities, or gatherings, avoid entering and leaving crowded places, or areas with high risk of infection transmission, and take the initiative to follow various regulations and stop the potential spread of the highly contagious variant within the community
