CECC confirms 51 more COVID-19 cases, including 15 domestic cases and 36 imported cases

According to Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), there are 51 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of those 51 cases, 15 are domestic and 36 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are 10 men and 5 women, aged between around 10 years old and 50 years old.

Regarding the 36 new imported cases, they are 21 men and 15 women, aged between under 5 and above 70 years old. 20 of them are from the US, 2 from Palau and Indonesia each, and 1 from Hong Kong, Vietnam, Netherlands, Haiti, Philippines, Dominican Republic, and Belgium. The remaining 5 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between January 9, 2022 to January 23, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,463,663 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,444,547. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 18,376 cases. Of the 18,376 confirmed cases, 3,404 are imported; 14,918 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection.

The command center once again appeals to the public that one should keep hands clean, wear a mask, reduce unnecessary travel, activities, or gatherings, avoid entering and leaving crowded places, or areas with high risk of infection transmission, and take the initiative to follow various regulations and stop the potential spread of the highly contagious variant within the community
