On June 16, the Labor Affairs Bureau of the New Taipei City Government and the Manila Economic and Cultural Office jointly held "Philippines 121 Independence Day and Migrant Worker Happy Running Friendly Match” activity at Xingfu Shuiyang Park (New Taipei Metropolitan Park) in San Chong district, New Taipei City. Many Philippine performance groups performed the catwalk together to celebrate the 121st Philippines National Day, which made the Filipino friends and the New Taipei citizens excited.
The Manila Economic and Cultural Office Representative, ANGELITO T.BANAYO, said that he is very grateful to New Taipei City for holding the Independence Day celebrations in recent years, so that Filipino friends in Taiwan can gather together to celebrate. He also thanks Taiwanese people for their warmth and enthusiasm, and hopes that the friendship between Taiwan and the Philippines will last forever.
The Labor Affairs Bureau pointed out that there are currently 97,948 migrant workers in New Taipei City, including 13,944 Filipino workers. Moreover, there are 1,608 Filipino new residents.
The Philippines Independence Day is on June 12th, it is very meaningful for Filipino friends who work hard in Taiwan. Through the Running Friendly Match, it could show the cheerful, lively and enthusiastic character of Filipino friends. The Labor Affairs Bureau hopes that through today’s event, the Philippines’ migrant workers and new residents’ friends can feel the warmth and atmosphere of their hometown.
The event invited the famous Filipino artist “Arnell Ignacio” to bring a wonderful performance, which made the audience full of joy, as well as the performances from the Filipino orchestra, catwalk, and dance group, added a splendid atmosphere to the event.
In addition, the event also provides Philippine cuisine, free services from visually impaired massage, the promotion of the latest immigration laws and other booths, while the Tzu Chi Medical Association also provides free mobile health check services, allowing the Philippines to continue working in Taiwan with a healthy and happy heart.
