According to the 4wayvoice, Taiwan has reopened its border and allow the entry of Indonesian migrant workers since November 11. However, there are many imported COVID-19 cases who are migrant workers recently.
In response to the global resurgence of COVID-19 infections, the Ministry of Labor (MOL) has launched three major measures to further boost the epidemic prevention, including “requiring employers to implement epidemic prevention measures for employing migrant workers”, “management measures for migrant workers during the epidemic”, and “increasing the vaccination rate of unaccounted-for migrant workers & migrant workers working legally in Taiwan.

Hsu Ming-chun (許銘春), the Minister of Labor, said that migrant workers can enjoy the same right to get vaccinated as Taiwanese. Individuals can make an appointment for vaccination on the COVID-19 vaccination registration platform.
In addition, the National Immigration Agency (NIA), together with the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of Labor, has launched the “Carefree Covid-19 Vaccination Program” which adopts four principles, including “won’t be reported”, “won’t be seized”, “won’t be charged for any fee”, “won’t be banned” and the tabulation of names are assisted by various associations, & civil society organizations.
Until November 20, the first dose given to legal foreign migrant workers has reached 81%, and the second dose given is 31%. Statistics from NIA indicate that more than 1,600 undocumented migrant workers & overstayers have completed the vaccination.

Hsu Ming-chun mentioned that the proportion of confirmed cases who are migrant workers is low, and they need to serve a 21-day collective quarantine, so there will be no serious impact on the community. The rolling-wave planning will be adopted to prevent a resurgence of domestic COVID-19 cases.
