“Raksha Bandhan” is a traditional Indian Festival, which is held every August. On that day, people go outside for worship in the morning. After getting home, the sisters will tie an amulet around their brothers’ wrists for blessing. Their brothers also give them a gift and a promise of protection.

There are many different origins of the festival’s story. There is one saying that one of the Indian gods Indra had a fight with the devil, and Indra won because of the amulet which was tied around his wrist by his wife. In the opinion of Indians, “Raksha Bandhan” transcends race and class.  It can unite the Indians during the day of the festival.
