To enable the public to experience and understand immigrants’ culture, the Civil Affairs Bureau, Taichung City Government is holding the “Spice Culture - Fragrance from Home” exhibition which lasts until December 31.
Special spices used in exotic cuisines from more than 20 countries in Asia, Europe and America would be introduced during the event. Besides, the exhibits are replaced every three months, and 48 kinds of spices are expected to be on display.
Zhou Yu Mei (周瑺玫), the Deputy Director of the Civil Affairs Bureau, mentioned that the local government is not only committed to planning relevant care measures for immigrants but also actively promoting cultural exchanges between immigrants and the public. It is hoped that through this exhibition, immigrants would be able to reduce feelings of homesickness during the global pandemic outbreak.
The main theme of the event is “Spice Culture” which introduces spices and exotic cuisines from more than 20 countries including China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Sri Lanka, India, France, Egypt, Turkey, and France. Besides, there are areas of “Spice Smelling”, “Immigrants’ Information Exchange”, “Reading”, and “Time Corridor” set up, which is a suitable destination for the family outing.
