The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) declared on February 20 that, beginning March 1, it will no longer provide home-use Covid-19 antigen rapid tests for arrivals and close contacts of confirmed cases after assessing domestic and international epidemic trends, domestic medical and public health capabilities. If you need to buy rapid test on your own, you can do it through a variety of channels, including pharmacies, supermarkets, retail channels for cosmeceuticals, etc.

According to the CECC, immigrants used to be able to obtain one dosage of Covid-19 antigen rapid test on their own while entering Taiwan, and the Department of Health would give one dose of it to close relatives of confirmed cases.

Given that the recent slowdown of the global and local epidemic situation, the timing of self-initiated prevention testing has been adjusted to self-initiated prevention targets, including immigrants and close contacts of confirmed cases, using Covid-19 antigen rapid test when symptoms appear, and resting at self-initiated prevention locations. Those who have symptoms while entering the nation can get in touch with the CDC quarantine staff at the airport and port for possible inspection. Those who don’t have symptoms will go back to the self-initiated prevention locations for seven days of self-initiated prevention. Additionally, domestic sales of home-use Covid-19 antigen rapid tests are already profitable and easy for the general public to access.

Based on the foregoing evaluations, the CECC will suspend offering publicly sponsored home-use Covid-19 antigen rapid tests for incoming workers and close family members of confirmed cases as of March 1st.

Although the domestic COVID-19 epidemic is slowing down, the population is still at risk of virus transmission, and the respiratory virus epidemic season is still in effect, according to the CECC. The general public is urged to actively get vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to boost individual and collective immunity, protect themselves and others, and comply with all pertinent epidemic prevention regulations, good personal epidemic prevention habits, hand hygiene, cough etiquette, and other protective measures.
