The Chiayi City Government held a celebration banquet for the Chiayi City team participating in the "2024 National Games for People with Disabilities" at the Xiaoyuan Banquet Restaurant. Vice Mayor Lin Ruiyan attended the ceremony, awarding prize money and celebrating the athletes' achievements together.
This year's National Games for People with Disabilities was hosted by the Nantou County Government and took place from May 25 to May 28 across various competition venues in Nantou. The Chiayi City team performed excellently, winning 15 gold, 16 silver, and 11 bronze medals, along with 2 fourth places, 5 fifth places, 1 seventh place, and 1 eighth place. To recognize the athletes' outstanding performance and to appreciate the coaches' hard work, the city government awarded more than NT$2.8 million in prize money.
Vice Mayor Lin Ruiyan stated that Chiayi City has nurtured many future stars in the sports world. The athletes' brilliant performances not only achieved personal success but also showcased Chiayi City's strength. The city government will continue to actively promote itself as a city of sports for all, encouraging athletes to embrace challenges and surpass themselves. Especially for athletes with disabilities, who have to overcome physical challenges and demonstrate themselves through sports, their efforts are truly admirable.

Director of the Education Department, Guo Tiancai, expressed pride in every athlete from Chiayi City. The city government will continue to review and revise the "Chiayi City Sports Team Participation Subsidy Guidelines," increasing the subsidies for participation and providing more support to athletes and coaches. To reward outstanding athletes from Chiayi City, the government has revised the "Chiayi City Sports Reward Fund Guidelines," increasing the prize amounts for athletes with disabilities, hoping they continue to break through and reach new heights.
This celebration banquet is not only a recognition of the athletes but also a gratitude to the coaches and support teams. Vice Mayor Lin Ruiyan especially thanked the coaches for their hard work and stated that the city government will continue to improve the sports environment, providing better training facilities to ensure athletes can train and compete under superior conditions.
In the future, the Chiayi City Government will continue to promote various sports activities, support more people with disabilities to participate in sports and showcase their potential and passion.
