To enhance the equality of new immigrants' health care in Tainan, the Public Health Bureaus of Tainan City Government will be hosting an interpreter training for new immigrants' health care from Aug. 17 to 24. Every new immigrant who has a passion for helping others can participate in the interpreter training program held by the Public Health Bureaus. Applications have been accepted from now on until Aug. 12 (Wednesday).

The Public Health Bureaus of Tainan City Government stated that every new immigrant who has a national spouse, an entry permit, or a residence permit and is bilingual in Chinese and another language, including Vietnamese, Indonesian, Thai, and Cambodian will be entitled to join in the training program. According to the "103rd Study on the Competency Analysis of Foreign Spouse Interpreters, Training Courses, Certification System" (103年外籍配偶通譯人員職能分析與訓練課程及認證規劃之研究), participants who completed the course and pass the exam, with a total of 32 hours, will be qualified to serve as interpreters for health care in the Public Health Bureaus of Tainan City Government.


The Public Health Bureaus of Tainan City Government explained that hourly wage for interpreters who work 8 hours per week is 300 NTD. The content of interpreting service is to serve as a bridge between public health nurses and new immigrants, helping various matters that require interpretation and communication including outpatient care, vaccination, family visits, health management, and questionnaire surveys.
