According to Trafficking victim forced to become sex worker safely returns to PH (inquirer.net), a Filipino lady who had been the victim of a "harrowing ordeal" of sex trafficking in Malaysia has been returned home, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on November 9.

According to the BI, on November 8, the victim, who is 20 years old, landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The BI claims that although the lady was first promised a cleaning position in Malaysia, she was ultimately coerced into becoming a prostitute. According to Trafficking victim forced to become sex worker safely returns to PH (inquirer.net), it is believed that she was enlisted by an online friend.

The sufferer was imprisoned. According to BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco's statement, she was kept in deplorable circumstances and even refused food if she didn't comply with her kidnappers' demands. According to the Commissioner, the victim was even made to get an abortion once it was revealed that she was pregnant.

According to the BI, the victim initially went to Palawan, where they assisted him to board a yacht illegally and take it to Kota, Kinabalu, Malaysia. She also remembered getting another lady, who the syndicate had previously recruited.

According to the agency, the victim also related how he had to go over steep terrain to get to a motel in Sibu, Malaysia. There, they were kept as prostitutes.

According to Trafficking victim forced to become sex worker safely returns to PH (inquirer.net), The victim was then moved to another hotel in Bintulu, Malaysia, according to the BI. Authorities from Malaysia invaded the hotel and imprisoned the lady.

The BI stated that she was able to get in touch with the Philippine Embassy in Malaysia with the assistance of Malaysian police.
