To strengthen the prevention of the entry of African swine fever into Taiwan by new immigrants, the New Taipei City Service Station of the North District Affairs Brigade of the National Immigration Agency (移民署北區事務大隊新北市服務站) continued to promote relevant prevention and control activities in seven languages, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, English, Indonesian, Thai, and Vietnamese. Migrant workers and new immigrants continue to join the fight against African swine fever.

The Central Disaster Response Center for African Swine Fever of the Executive Yuan (行政院非洲豬瘟中央災害應變中心) stated that on August 19, 2021, it was the first time in Taiwan that a Vietnamese mother and daughter's warehouse contained meat products such as moon cakes, ham, hot dogs, and lotus leaf pork rolls of African swine fever virus, totaling 71.786 kilograms. The Central Disaster Response Center for African Swine Fever of the Executive Yuan reminded once again that imported meat must be quarantined in accordance with the Regulations on the Prevention and Control of Animal Infectious Diseases (動物傳染病防治條例). If the regulations are violated, the quarantine items will not only be destroyed, but the guilty party will also be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than 7 years. There is also a fine of a maximum of NT$3 million so everyone should abide by the law.

To strengthen the awareness of new immigrants and migrant workers to prevent African swine fever, the New Taipei City Service Station of the National Immigration Agency continues to actively inform the importers of animal, plant, or related products into Taiwan that they should comply with the "Regulations on Prevention and Control of Animal and Plant Infectious Diseases" (動植物傳染病防治條例) and the "Plant Prevention and Quarantine Law" (植物防疫檢疫法) and other relevant regulations.

In cooperation with the new immigrants’ service center and the care stations in each district, the "Prevention of African Swine Fever" (防範非洲豬瘟) seminar will be held together with family education and mobile service activities. At the same time, the new immigrants’ LINE group and Facebook community will send messages about the prevention of African swine fever in seven languages to help the new immigrants’ fight against the African swine fever and to protect everybody’s health.

Lin Chen-chi (林振智), director of the New Taipei City Service Station of the National Immigration Agency, said that epidemic prevention is like fighting a war and everyone should be involved. To prevent the smuggling of meat, the government will strengthen "CIQS border epidemic prevention work", "Comprehensive tracking of different sources", "inspection of stores” and “checking the implementation of high-temperature cooking procedures for food waste”. Relevant prevention information is announced on the New Taipei City Service Station website and Facebook page. The new immigrants should work together to prevent and control the African swine fever epidemic.
