"New" Hearts Linked with Kinmen, Migrants Day Coming on Stage

Kinmen County Government held a grand "Migrants Day Multicultural Exchange: 'New' Hearts Linked with Kinmen" to celebrate International Migrants Day and invited the new residents and the locals living in Kinmen to enjoy together at the Social Affairs Department Kinmen County Government on the morning of December 14. County mayor's wife is also from Kinmen. Mayor Yang Cheng Wu expressed his appreciation for the new residents' participation and the people's contribution to their families and society. Kinmen has also become colorful because of everyone's participation. 

To celebrate the event for International Migrants Day, "Migrants Day Multicultural Exchange: 'New' Hearts Linked with Kinmen", the organizer, Department of Social Affairs and the co-organizer, New Immigrants Family Service Center of Kinmen County particularly cooperated with various units, such as Kinmen Service Station of the NIA, to hold a series of activities on yesterday morning at the Social Affairs Department. The indigenous' brilliant dance performances raised the curtain on, and the new residents from various countries were also dressed in their traditional costumes that represented their culture individually and made the event full of ethnic atmosphere. Mayor Yang Cheng Wu, Town Mayor Li Chengzhi, Chairman of Jincheng Township Elected Representatives, Chen Tiancheng, and Huang Yushun, from Kinmen Career Service Station of the Ministry of Labor also attended.

In response to the issue of how new residents adapt and integrate into this Kinmen family, Yang Cheng Wu stated that Kinmen should understand people's cultural background instead of partially asking them to behave according to our culture and customs. Also, Kinmen should respect those new residents' culture. New residents' families have helped Kinmen cultivate the second generation; hence, the issues about children cultivation, education, employment are also valued by the County Government. Yang Cheng Wu added that he is also a part of a new resident family, so he can totally relate to the difficulties that a new resident may encounter in his or her career or this foreign country. Therefore, Kinmen County Government is very willing to be the staunch backing of those new residents and to make the people living in Kinmen to be taken good care of and have more opportunities to stand out in their careers.
