Over 6 million people attended the 10-day 2022 Taipei Lantern Festival combining virtual and on-site activities

According to the Taipei City Government, on February 20, the Taipei Lantern Festival 2022 came to a successful finish. Because of the epidemic, the festival this year took a hybrid approach, combining virtual and on-site events.

Throughout 1 million individuals visited the lantern festival website, and the physical lantern displays at the sites attracted 1.7 million people to Shilin area over the 10-day span. Furthermore, 3.5 million people watched live streaming of the numerous lantern festival shows. As a result, approximately 6 million people attended this year's lantern festival, making it a huge success.

Since the beginning of the event on February 11, stores and businesses have reported huge numbers returning to the neighborhood. The high attendance at both the exhibitions and the online display allowed more people to rediscover Shilin's allure.

Spectators witnessed impressive spectacles combining visual and audio experiences on the final day of the 2022 Taipei Lantern Festival, including the space ship main lantern Taipei 40 and the riverside fire-and-water show, as well as main stage performances by Jhen Yue Tang, Wingle, AKB48 Team Taipei, and Mixer.

The yearly celebration, according to Commissioner of Information and Tourism Liu Yi-ting, is a milestone activity for Taipei at the start of the New Year. To safeguard the safety of event attendees, a variety of pandemic prevention measures were implemented. The enormous lineups at Shilin Night Market and the grins on the shop owners attest to the success of the collaboration with head curator Akibo and his team.

The lantern decorations will be displayed at locations like as Shilin Night Market, Jihe Road, Cixian Temple, and other adjacent locations till February 28 to extend the festive atmosphere.
