As the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has spread worldwide, daily production of masks in Taiwan normally reaches up to 12 million to meet the demand. To take care of foreign workers working in Taiwan, Commander Chen Shih-Chung of the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that from April 9, nationals are allowed to send masks to families overseas, limited to second-degree relatives. 30 masks can be sent every 2 months.
To simplify the process, it is planned:
(1) No export declaration needs to be made
(2) The sender needs to apply for an export license online
(3) An individual needs to bring face masks and the number of the export license, and other required documents to the post office or the courier company to export.
(4) The recipient must be a R.O.C national and can only receive 30 pieces every 2 months; the sender can only send 30 pieces every 2 months.
The government will check the relationship between the sender and the recipient according to the household administration system. Besides, information on entry and exit dates can be used to identify whether the recipient is abroad.
