K-12 Education Administration(國教署), Ministry of Education (MOE) has launched the “Professional Skills Training Program for Children of Immigrants” for four years, and 1661 students of vocational high schools and senior high schools have benefited from the program.

The program aims to assist the second generation of immigrants in obtaining the job skills and knowledge required for local employment opportunities. A wide variety of courses include weaving, wedding makeup & hairstyling, and culinary skills in making Chinese & Western dishes.

Da Der Commercial and Technical Vocational School and National Chiayi Home Economics Vocational High School provide training for each semester, offering “weaving machine operation maintenance”, “hydropower operation and maintenance”, “wedding makeup & hair styling”, “clothing design”, and “nail art entrepreneurship”.

Juang Jing Vocational High School and Chih-Kuang Vocational High School of Business & Technology have opened courses “New Taipei City local cuisines” and “Western cooking integrates into Southeast Asian cuisine” respectively.

Division Chief of K-12 Education Administration, Chen Bi Yu (陳碧玉), mentioned that this program focuses on improving training courses for schools that have submitted proposals. By combining resources available inside and outside the school and inviting teachers from the industry, students would be able to sharpen their vocational skills and job-related skills.
