Taipei policies for new residents are included in the new service system for migrant workers that will be launched this July.

In order to build a friendly city for migrants, the Department of Labor of the Taipei City Government has developed and consolidated many working teams to implement the social policies for migrant care workers. The main areas of action of this new care system include labor protection, skills training and care resources. This new system will be launched this July.

According to statistics, the number of migrant workers in Taipei City is about 45,000 . Up to 90% of them are care workers that work in home and have close ties with Taiwan citizens.

When we talk about care workers, we must know that families who hire migrants need care resources to pay them. Therefore, there are positive efforts to learn these families how to use care resources and work together to take care of family elders. On the other hand, for many epidemic diseases or public health issues, the cooperation with the Department of Health Taipei City Government will be strengthened to maintain the health of migrant workers while they work in Taiwan.

In addition, employers of migrant workers are concerned about their poor Chinese and the difficulties in communication. In consequence, the Labor Bureau will strengthen the cooperation with the Education Bureau to promote the learning Chinese for foreign workers. 

Every year, Taipei City handles the friendly Muslim Carnival, which has become a unique cultural touristic event, attracting people form everywhere. This activity is attended after the Eid al-Fitr festival. This kind of cultural exchanges can make people more aware of the original culture of these migrant workers, so there are many chances to create a harmonious and friendly environment.
