Liao Wu-Hui (廖武輝), the mayor of Jinshan District, New Taipei City, said that after the COVID19 outbreak, residents were bored at home. Fortunately, the epidemic has gradually been brought under control and the district office and local businesses cooperated to organize a DIY slipper painting event. Not only can the new immigrants and elders relax, but they can also wear and bring home their DIY painted slippers. This is a great event that will continue to be held every year.

At the event site, the number of people was controlled by alternate seating arrangements, hands must be disinfected by alcohol and body temperature must be taken before entering the venue. Everyone inside the venue must always wear masks throughout the event. As of August, Jinshan District has a total of 3,700 people over 65, accounting for more than 18% of the district’s population. It is hoped that through the slippers painting course, the elders can create their own unique works, and the elders can communicate and interact with each other and build friendship.
