"2020 New Taipei Golden Rats Lantern Festival" will be grandly held from February to March 1 at the New Taipei Metropolitan Park. To create a colorful lantern festival for Lunar New Year, Department of Civil Affairs of New Taipei City Government, for the first time, holds lanterns painting competition this year and invites professionals and students from all over the city to creatively paint characteristic lanterns. The competition has attracted nearly 4,000 people to sign up, and the 2020 painted lantern works selected will be displayed at the lantern festival to light up the whole sky.
The competition for Year of the Rat 2020 is based on three criteria: "theme and completeness", "originality and design", and "effectiveness and technology". After the professional review, 2020 beautiful lanterns are selected from nearly 4,000 works. The winning works combined with traditional features, creativity, and local cultural features show the image of the Year of the Rat and hand-made craftsmanship. The beautiful lanterns sea is also expected to be a popular check-in place.
Department of Civil Affairs of New Taipei City Government states that apart from the selected 2020 works going to be displayed at the "2020 New Taipei Golden Rats Lantern Festival", the event has also planned a hand-painted lantern area. During the lantern festival, a daily limit of 400 plain lanterns will be provided for people to paint on. Parents are welcome to bring your children to come to the lantern festival and create your unique "we got a rat" lantern.
